A morning coffee, an evening glass, the remote and the book you are halfway through all sit within reach, with no side table to drag over and no mug balanced on a cushion.

A table that clips on

Underneath the tray sits a hinged wooden clip shaped like an open triangle. Fold it down and it straddles the arm, holding the tray level on square, curved and rounded sofa arms up to about 21.5cm wide. Lift it off and the clip folds flat against the underside, so the whole piece slips into a drawer, behind the sofa or into a bag for the holiday cottage.

Natural wood, raised lip

The tray is cut in natural wood with a soft, pale grain and a gently raised lip around the edge, so a coaster, a cup or a few snacks stay put. Its plain round shape and light tone sit as easily on a deep green velvet sofa in a panelled sitting room as on a cream boucle armchair in a bright modern flat.

An easy gift

It is one of those things people never think to buy for themselves and then use every single evening. For the man who watches every match from the same corner of the sofa, a new homeowner or anyone who likes a cup of tea within arm's reach, it makes a thoughtful, practical present at Christmas.

About the name. Sigmaringen is a town on the upper Danube in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, watched over by its castle on the rock above the river.

Delivery. Orders are dispatched within 2 working days and arrive in 7 to 12 working days, with free UK delivery.

Size & Details

Shape: round tray with a raised lip

Material: natural wood

Clip: hinged wooden triangle clip that folds flat for storage

Fits: square, curved and round sofa and armchair arms up to about 21.5cm (8.5in) wide

Non electrical, no assembly beyond unfolding the clip

Cups, glasses and books shown for styling only, not included

Wipe clean with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth.
