There are no batteries to buy and swap. Each candle has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges over USB, and with the daily timer switching them on for a few hours each evening, one charge goes a long way. Pick them up, move them around the room, and set them back down without a trailing cable.
The remote switches the set on and off together, dims or brightens the glow and sets a 2, 4, 6 or 8 hour timer that repeats every day. Set it once in December and the candles light themselves every evening, just as the curtains close.
