The frame is solid ash, cut low and wide with legs that splay in a confident A, and the seat and back are woven from natural vine in a broad herringbone that catches lamplight the way only real fibre does. It is the sort of chair that looks like it was collected rather than bought.
The sit is low and reclined, made for the end of the day, a book, or the last hour of a long dinner. Because both the frame and the weave are natural materials, no two chairs are identical: the grain and the fibre vary piece to piece, which is the point.
The frame is finished in an environmentally friendly water-based paint that keeps the ash close to its natural colour. Assembly is simple and the geometry does the rest, a frame structure with no springs, no foam, nothing to sag.
About the name. Lavenham is a Suffolk village of crooked medieval timber-framed houses, often called England's best-preserved wool town, the kind of English place every Dusk Oak piece takes its name from.
