Meet the Elmsworth, a small desk lamp built around a joint.
The head tilts on a visible pivot where the shade meets the arm, so the same lamp throws a soft wash up the wall at one angle and a tight pool over a page at another. That one movement is the whole point. Most desk lamps give you a fixed cone of light and leave you to move the book instead.
The base is a turned disc of natural wood and the upright is the same timber, left pale so the grain shows. Against it, the shade is a spun metal cone in soft white, matt rather than glossy, which keeps the reflected light warm instead of hard. Small enough for a bedside table or a desk corner, and quiet enough to leave out.
Reading, and the hour before sleep
Bedside tables, desks, a narrow hall console. It takes a standard E27 bulb, so you set the warmth: a 2700K filament for something amber and slow, a neutral bulb if it is going over a keyboard.

No. It takes a standard E27 screw bulb, so you choose the warmth yourself. A 2700K filament is the one most people reach for beside a bed.
