Meet the Langford, a light shaped like the table under it.
Most dining pendants are round and hang in the middle, which lights the centre of the table and leaves the two ends dim. This one is a slim bar a little over a metre and a quarter long, carrying five separate heads spaced along it, so the light lands the whole length of the table instead of pooling in the middle. If you have ever eaten at the dark end of your own table, that is the problem it solves.
The bar is wrought iron in a matt black finish, thin enough to read as a line rather than a fixture. Each head throws its own pool of warm light, and the five together cover a table that a single pendant would leave half lit.
One fitting, two rooms
Choose the three colour version and you get full output while you are cooking and serving, then a low warm setting once the plates are cleared. It lights a room of roughly eight to twelve square metres, which is most dining rooms and a good many kitchens.
